Today: Register for BIPOC Mental Health Summit

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion & Counseling Department is teaming up with Ursuline College Offices of Diversity and Counseling to host a 2nd Annual BIPOC Mental Health Summit on Saturday, October 1st. The summit will take place at Ursuline College from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with breakfast and lunch provided. There will be a JCU van leaving for Ursuline College at 8:30 am.

The goal of the summit is to increase mental health awareness and to erase stigma in communities of color. It will feature local and campus mental health resources and a panel of mental health professionals. In addition, JCU alumni, Stacey Diane Arañez Litam (she, her, siya) Ph.D., LPCCs, NCC, CCMHC will deliver the keynote for the event.

Brief Bio:
Stacey Diane Arañez Litam (she, her, siya) Ph.D., LPCCs, NCC, CCMHC, is an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education at Cleveland State University. She is a licensed professional clinical counselor, clinical supervisor, and member of the Forbes Health Advisory Board. Dr. Litam’s clinical and research areas focus on topics related to intersectionality, human sexuality, and BIPOC mental health. Dr. Litam has served as a content expert on BIPOC mental health and the psychological impact of anti-Asian discrimination during COVID-19 on platforms including National Public Radio (NPR), podcasts, 19-action news, as well as in legislative arenas. She has published extensively on BIPOC mental health and has 16 articles archived in the World Health Organization’s global literature database on COVID-19.

She is an immigrant and identifies as a Chinese and Filipina American woman.
