Help Writers in Residence transform the lives of justice-involved youth through creative writing and mentorship by running in its inaugural 5K race and 1-mile walk.
Started at JCU in 2017, Writers in Residence is a nonprofit organization teaching creative writing to youth who are incarcerated to empower their voices and assist in their re-entry into society. They strive to reduce the recidivism rates of their residents and participate in the transformation of the juvenile justice system.
Consider signing up as a sports team, club, or friend group for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a local business. Think free food from Pizzazz, or free ice cream from Ben and Jerry’s, or even coffee for days from Bigby’s.
This event is in partnership with JCU’s Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Dept. and Hermes Cleveland.
