Explore the rich visual worlds of Arabic and Hebrew calligraphy with educator, community builder, and artist Ruben Shimonov, who is the National Director of Sephardi House & Young Leadership at American Sephardi Federation. Learn about his journey from Uzbekistan to the United States, and how he used his multilingual calligraphy skills to build Muslim-Jewish interfaith bridges. And then see the parallels between these two languages by trying the calligraphy art yourself. All the necessary materials will be provided. Free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome but those with RSVP will be given priority .

Ruben Shimonov’s “Convergence” interfaith calligraphy exhibit will be displayed at the Interfaith Atrium of the Lombardo Student Center between 15-19 April.
This event is part of the 14th Annual Week of Islamic Art and Culture organized by the Bediuzzaman Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies, and it is co-sponsored by the Mandel Chair in Jewish Studies and the Tuohy Center for Interreligious Understanding.
