1 credit, can be taken either the first or second seven half of the semester, TR 11.20-12.35. Counts for CaPA and may be applied toward the minor in Spanish and Hispanic Studies. Instructor: Yuliya Frid
IC 1130 will examine a range of dances across four Spanish-speaking countries. Students will learn to identify key movements, musical instruments, costumes, as well as historical and cultural origins of Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Argentine Tango. Emphasis will be placed on the integration of dance within various cultural belief systems and the relationship between dance and cultural identity. No partner needed.
