Today: “The (Second) Coming: Messiahs, Jesus, and the Mahdi”

David L. Barr, Ph.D., professor of religion at Wright State University, is the 2012-2013 Tuohy Chair Fellow. Barr will deliver the fifth of his six lectures in the Tuohy Chair Lecture Series on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Donahue Auditorium. The topic of the lecture series is “Jerusalem, Jesus, and Jihad: End-Times Scenarios in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.” The lecture on April 16 will focus on “The (Second) Coming: Messiahs, Jesus, and the Mahdi.”

Today: Freedom of Expression vs. Respect for the Sacred

On Saturday, April 13, the Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies will be hosting an international conference titiled Freedom of Expression vs. Respect for the Sacred. This one-day event will explore these complex issues from a variety of perspectives, including religion, sociology, ethics, and politics, and is designed to create dialogue and foster understanding on one of the most fundamental issues facing contemporary global society.
