Today: Streak-A-Thon

The Carroll Cancer Advocacy Network is putting on a dance marathon on Saturday, March 29. This event will take the place of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event. The Streak-a-Thon will take place from 6 p.m.-midnight in the Varsity Gym! This event will support three local Cancer related organizations: The Gathering Place, Cleveland Clinic Taussig Center, and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network!

Today: Segundo Montes, S.J., Memorial Lecture – Thomas Kelly Ph.D., Creighton University

Thomas Kelly, Ph.D., of Creighton University, will discuss his book “When the Gospel Grows Feet: Rutilio Grande S.J. and the Church of El Salvador” on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. in the Jardine Room. Rev. Rutilio Grande, S.J., was assassinated by the Salvadoran military in 1977 due to his work for the poor which challenged the power structures in El Salvador. His death transformed Archbishop Oscar Romero and encouraged the Archbishop to become a passionate voice for the oppressed and marginalized people in El Salvador, actions which subsequently lead to his own assassination three years later.
