Canvas Tip of the Week: Protecting your online quizzes using the LockDown Browser option

Instructors have the option of requiring the Respondus LockDown Browser for their Canvas quizzes. Doing so prevents students from printing, copying, and accessing other applications during a quiz. To utilize this option, first click on the LockDown Browser link on the course navigation bar. This will display a list of quizzes in the course. To require the LockDown browser for a quiz, click the pull-down menu to the left of the quiz title, then on Modify Settings. Clicking on the “Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam” button will present a few additional options. Click the Save and Close button and that’s it! Students will now be required to use the LockDown browser (which is installed on all JCU classroom/lab computers) to take that quiz.

Would you like to learn more? Stop by the Center for Digital Media (CDM) on Tuesday, March 10, at 2 p.m. for a free cup of Starbucks and learn how you can use the LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor to protect the integrity of your online exams! The 45-minute session will include an introductory webinar, demos, and a Q&A session at the end.
