Today: Participate in Intergroup Dialogue This Spring

Participate in the Intergroup Dialogue this spring!

Intergroup dialogues are face-to-face meetings between members of at least two different social identity groups and should provide an opportunity for open and honest conversation about race, religion, ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation and/or gender depending on the composition of the group.

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion and the Dean of Students office, along with the Office of Mission and Identity are organizing this dialogue with the expectation that these conversations will strengthen our commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming campus climate at JCU. To this end, participants may use mission leave to participate in this project.

Facilitated by Danielle Carter (director of the center for student diversity and inclusion) and Donna Byrnes (associate dean of students), this dialogue series will be from 12-1:30 p.m. on the following eight Wednesdays: March 11, March 18, March 25, April 1, April 15, April 22, April 29, and May 6. We are looking for 10-16 faculty and staff willing to explore issues of identity as they relate to one’s understanding of self, areas of difference with others, connections to others, and how to build alliances as well as engage in social action.

Please let Donna Byrnes (dbyrnes@jcu.edu) or Danielle Carter (dcarter@jcu.edu) know if you would like to participate in the dialogue by Monday, March 9.
