Student Summer Hire Process

The process of hiring 2016 JCU student summer hires has begun. Summer positions are available to work May 8, 2016 – August 27, 2016. All necessary forms and instructions can be found on the Human Resources Department website (www.jcu.edu/hr).

As in the past, all student summer employees must be registered for the 2016 Fall Semester at John Carroll University. New student employees cannot work if required documentation has not been completed (Background investigation for selected positions, I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, Federal & State Tax Forms and bank routing/account numbers for direct deposit). Pay will not be generated if these forms have not been completed. The wage rate for 2016 is $8.10 per hour for first time employees or those who are not returning to the same department; $8.35 per hour for employees returning to the same department as last year.

All requests for summer student employment must be justified in writing and approved in advance by the appropriate division Vice President or Dean. The amount requested should not exceed the budgeted amount for the department. Please forward all completed and signed forms to the Human Resources Department, Attention: Candace Pluhar.

On our website we have included a chart to illustrate the forms needed, eligibility, required documentation and compensation. Please feel free to contact Candace Pluhar at extension 4976 if you have any questions.

Any exceptions must be approved in advance by Rich Mausser, Vice President for Administration/CFO.

Thank you.
