Writing Across Carroll | Writing as an Alternative to Lecture

The Writing Across Carroll program’s monthly lunch and workshop presents:

Smile More, Talk Less: Assigning Writing as a Pedagogical Alternative to Lecture
Monday, February 3, 12:00-1:00
O’Malley 47 (Communication Department Conference Room)

Writing is woven into the Core Curriculum, as well as most majors, so we want to extend the conversation, coordinating our efforts and learning from one another. This will be a peer-to-peer sharing session. We invite faculty to bring examples of assignments and other related materials that demonstrate their approach on how writing can be used as a tool of learning in the classroom.

Is writing used in your class merely as a means to assess learning? Or, can we also use writing-to-learn activities and prompts in the classroom for students to learn course material more effectively? Our goal will be to offer tips on how to achieve the latter.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP so that we can order lunch for you:
