Today: Read Isabel Wilkerson’s new book, “Caste”

The DEI division is pleased to announce the first RISE faculty/staff book club of 2020-2021. Our book selection for Sept/Oct is Isabel Wilkerson’s brand-new and long-awaited book, “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.”

Recently described in the New York Times as “an instant American classic and almost certainly the keynote nonfiction book of the American century thus far,” “Caste” describes how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings.

The book club will meet virtually starting at 11:45 am on the following Thursdays: 9/24, 10/1, 10/8 and 10/15. This program is a “brown bag lunch” meeting. Open to all staff, faculty, and graduate assistants.

Spots are filling up fast, so don’t miss this opportunity to join us! Learn more and register for the book club here: https://jcu.edu/form/fall-faculty-staff-book-group-ca
