Join the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards Watch Party Oct. 1

Did you know that Cleveland is home to the only American book award specifically for works addressing racism and diversity? And did you know that we are lucky to have two Anisfield-Wolf fellows right here at JCU?

The prestigious Anisfield-Wolf Book Award celebrates its 85th annual awards ceremony on October 1st in a reimagined, pandemic-friendly format: an hour-long documentary aired at 8 p.m. EST on WVIZ/ideastream. It will be hosted by Jury Chair Henry Louis Gates Jr. and feature visits to the hometowns of this year’s four awardees: historian Eric Foner, poet Ilya Kaminsky, scholar Charles King and novelist Namwali Serpell. Planning to tune in? Join our party!

JCU will be hosting a virtual Awards Ceremony watch party starting at 8 pm on October 1st. All students, faculty and staff are welcome! Grab your best literary-themed beverages and snacks and curl up in front of the TV with us to enjoy this unusual book awards ceremony together.

Everyone joining the watch party will be entered in our door prize drawing! One lucky winner will receive the Anisfield-Wolf award-winning book of their choice! Browse the winners list here: https://www.anisfield-wolf.org/winners/
