When you record a meeting in Zoom, you have the option to save that recording to the Zoom cloud. However, JCU’s cloud storage with Zoom is limited and was never intended to be a long-term storage location, as the university has many other storage options available.
As we mentioned last semester, if you wish to keep your Zoom recordings, they can be easily downloaded and moved into other platforms, such as Studio, and made available to the students in the class via Canvas. Faculty who wish to preserve these recordings are encouraged to do so in this manner as Canvas courses and course content remain available unless the instructor specifically changes access. Our JCU Google Drive accounts have unlimited storage and may also be a good repository for all JCU staff and students to archive their videos.
In order to secure sufficient storage for Spring semester recordings, all recordings from Fall 2020 (prior to Jan 1st, 2021) will be deleted on Feb 19th, 2021. Nothing will happen to any Spring 2021 Zoom recordings before July 1st, 2021. This will include recordings from meetings and webinars.
Please review your Zoom cloud recordings as soon as possible. If you have recordings that you would like to keep, download and save them to one of the many alternative storage locations available to you (instructions below).
If you need assistance with Zoom, please call the ITS Service Desk at 216-397-3005, or submit a help request at helpdesk.jcu.edu
