One of the hallmarks of childhood is participation in youth sports. The Aspen Institute reports that over 70% of children age 6-12 participate in at least one sport. However, this number drops significantly as students progress into middle and high school. This program will discuss why youth sports remains vital for the biological, psychological, and sociological development of children. It will also explore the future of youth sports, with a focus on participation, privatization and sport specialization.
