February 24 Writing Across Carroll: The Transfer of Skills in Assignment Design

Our first WAC workshop of the spring semester will be Thursday, February 24 at 12:30-1:30, via Zoom.
Again, I Thought They Learned this in EN 125! The Transfer of Skills in Assignment Design
This Writing Across Carroll workshop will explore the benefits of how addressing transfer of writing skills from one writing context to another can help students produce the kind of writing we want in our classes. We will discuss how to design assignments that build on our students’ prior knowledge of writing in EN 125, and other contexts, and how reflecting on transferring skills from one writing situation to another can lead to a stronger awareness of how writing works in your discipline.
This is a peer-to-peer sharing workshop, with a focus on sharing ideas and challenges. Bring along writing assignment ideas you have developed which you think fit well with the goals of the workshop.
