Today: Linguistic Justice Community Book Read – Writing Across Carroll

Writing Across Carroll, the Writing Center, and the DEIB Division would like to invite you to participate in a community book read of Linguistic Justice: Black Language, Literacy, Identity, and Pedagogy by April Baker-Bell. This award-winning book brings together theory, research, and practice to dismantle Anti-Black Linguistic Racism (a term Baker-Bell coined) and white linguistic supremacy. This learning community will meet six times in the fall semester to discuss each chapter of the book.

Meeting Dates (every other Tuesday starting Week 3):
Sept. 12, 26, Oct. 10, 24, Nov. 7, 28

Time: 12:30-1:30 pm

Please feel free to bring your lunch! There will also be a Zoom option (https://johncarrolluniversity.zoom.us/j/2620833143) offered for those who would like to participate but may not be on campus. A limited number of books will be available for those participating.
