Current premedical and predental sophomores can apply for the Kenneth and Joan Callahan Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship money (minimum of $1,000) will be applied to the student’s junior year with an opportunity to renew for the student’s senior year.
Applicants must: have a declared intent to pursue a career in medicine or dentistry, be able to demonstrate community involvement and/or social responsibility, have an overall GPA of at least 3.5, and be on track to graduate in May
2026. Applicants may discuss their financial need in the application materials.
Application Materials: 1. A resume that includes academic achievements, expected graduation month/year, community involvement, and other activities that convey the scholarship, work ethic, and social responsibility of the applicant. The resume should include the names and contact information (email and phone number) of two people, preferably JCU faculty members or volunteer activity supervisors, who can serve as references. 2. A copy of the applicant’s web transcript (unofficial transcript from Banner). 3. A personal essay that demonstrates a desire to pursue a career in medicine or dentistry, how the applicant’s community service impacted that career goal, and the steps taken to fulfill that goal.
