Our featured guest on March 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the CAS Conference Room will be Professor Brian Macaskill of the English Department. We will be discussing his essay, “Fugal Musemathematics Track One, Point One: J.M. Coetzee, Ethics, and Joycean Counterpoint.” This should prove a fascinating discussion, for his essay tests the borders of various disciplines and even academic language itself. To just give you just a tempting glimpse, Macaskill says of this piece, “In order to pursue its prey, this essay has itself entered into exile, fleeing from the eminent domain of orthodoxly-governed argument even to the point of risking the exceptionable: whereby, for example, and for the shape of its presentation, it eschews Chicago Style citation while conforming in other respects to the stylistic protocols of Word and Text.”
