The 12th Annual Week of Islamic Art and Culture at JCU sponsored by The Bediuzzaman Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies will be April 1-5. All of the events will take place 6:30 pm in the Donahue Auditorium of the Dolan Science Center and are free and open to the public.
Monday April 1–Amir Hussain, Ph.D. Professor of Theological Studies at Loyola
Marymount University and former editor of the Journal of the
American Academy of Religion will give a presentation titled: “Bring
the Noise”: Islam, Muslims and Hip Hop.
Wednesday April 3–Award winning executive producer, writer, and director Alex
Kronemer of Unity Productions Foundation will present a special
showing of his latest film The Sultan and the Saint with a discussion
and Q&A to follow. This award winning film depicts the meeting of St.
Francis of Assisi and Sultan of Egypt in the midst of the Crusades in a
search for peace
Friday April 5– A showing of the film Birlesen Gönüller (Two Hearts as One). A look
inside the story of two newlyweds who are parted from each other and
spend the next half-century of their lives trying to reunite.
