Spring Break 2019: Travel with History to Berlin!

Join the History and Political Science Departments on their Spring Break trip to Berlin! While on the trip, you will have the opportunity to contextualize modern Berlin in its political and historical past by visiting the Brandenburg Gate, the former concentration camp of Sachsenhausen, and Berlin’s Jewish Community. You will also have the opportunity to speak with former East German dissidents, have discussions with members of parliament, and explore the city at your own pace. Today: Blood Rising: Painting the Lost Women of Juarez

On September 27th at 5 p.m. in Rodman, Hall Brian Maguire, the Irish artist whose portraits of the murdered women of Juarez, Mexico, will come for a showing of “Blood Rising,” an intimate documentary of his attempt to raise awareness about the disappeared women of Juarez. After a 30-minute screening, Maguire will be available for a talkback about the documentary, his work, and the relationship between art and politics.
