Segundo Montes Lecture to Feature International Attorney, Almudena Bernabeu

This year’s Segundo Montes, S.J., Memorial Lecture will be presented by Almudena Bernabeu, International Attorney and Transitional Justice Program Director with the Center for Justice and Accountability (CJA) in San Francisco. In her work with CJA, Ms. Bernabeu fights tirelessly to bring the world’s worst human rights abusers to justice. She is the lead on CJA’s work in Spain in the Guatemala Genocide Case and the Jesuits Massacre Case. In addition to receiving numerous awards for her human rights work, Ms. Bernabeu was included in “Time” magazine’s 2012 list of the 200 most influential people. Ms. Bernabeu will speak on “International Human Rights Litigation as a Key Tool for Justice in Latin America: Special Attention to the Guatemala and El Salvador Cases.” The lecture will take place on Wednesday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the LSC Conference Room of the Lombardo Student Center. This event is sponsored by the Department of Sociology, the Peace, Justice and Human Rights Program, and the Latin American Studies Concentration.
