Speakers and Events Policy for Faculty and Staff

In 2020, the University Committee on Administrative Policies passed a Speaker and Events policy, which can be found on the University Committees’ Policy webpage ( http://jcu.edu/university-committees/university-policies-and-data-retention-schedules#ucap). We have now established a process by which events can be approved and so the policy is in effect beginning January 1.

Most events featuring outside speakers or performers must have prior approval. Some academic events, all presentations during hiring processes, and commencement speakers are exempt from the policy. Student groups should continue to use their existing process through Carroll Connected.
